The making of

Chaserrug in three steps. Actually there were some more steps, but the principle is the same: each layer is in a contrasting colour to the one preceding it. The colour itself doesn’t have to be representational, it can be any colour I want. But the tone-value, the picture in black and white, must be the same as in reality to make it work.¬† With each layer I look for a more clear definition of the underlying forms in the landscape. I want to reduce the endless complexity of nature to a simplified form. I try to summarize¬† the form to make it stronger, but at the same time I want to keep as much of the infinite variety of nature’s forms to do it justice.
